Watch Straps - maintaining and measuring

Maintaining

Cleaning your watch every day with a dry cloth will help the strap last longer. Just hold the watch in your hand, hold the cloth in the other and gently wipe down the strap. If you don’t use it in water then this can be done once a week.

As often as you can, we recommend you to clean the area around the pins. You can do this using a soft toothbrush or you can take off the strap and clean with a toothbrush, cloth or even cotton bud.

Cleaning your strap will help prevent a build-up of residue which can cause your skin to react.

Measuring

When looking for a new strap for your watch it is important that you get the right measurements. All you need is a ruler and the watch that you want the strap for.

Place the watch on an even surface and hold the ruler where your strap should be. Where the strap is supposed to fit you will find pin holes. Measure the length of space between the 2 holes. Most straps are in even numbers so if you do find it to be an odd number you should double check. If the watch is definitely an odd number these may be specially designed for that particular brand. Let us know, and we will see if we can get the strap in for you.

Some straps have a special fitting such as the Swatch strap. If you find the fitting to be anything other than the straight pin fitting let us know and we can try and find a replacement for you. It’s always handy to have the model number so we can get the exact match.
