Luminox is a Swiss-made watch brand that are known for their robust watches which contain a tritium insert, giving the watch long-term luminescence. The brand also provides custom insignias and designs for certain military groups - US Navy SEAL, Coast Guard and Air Force, Heliswiss and many other international special forces.

Luminox's tagline is "always visible technology" - this is in reference to the long-term luminescence watch hands and markers. Most watches use phosphorescent markers, these however need to be charged by a light source.

Thanks to the Luminox Light Technology (LTT), these watches are guaranteed to always be visible. The hands and hour markers contain tiny self-powered micro gas light tubes (include what this means), so there is no need for any external light source to charge the the markers or hands to glow.

Labelled "Sea", "Land" and "Air" Luminox is broken down in mini-sub sections. Sea focuses on professional divers watches. Land is for the world military, law enforcement, SWAT teams and border patrols. Air for aircraft engineers.

The Luminox collection consists of black polyurethane (PU) and carbon compound bracelets and strap, on different coloured dials. The numerals displayed on the bezels and dials are very bold, it's literally impossible to miss even if you're in the toughest visible situation.

The contrast created with the font and the dial was excellently done - white dials have black numerals, blue dials have black and black dials have red. So in the impossible case that hands are not lighting up, the contrast created makes it easy to read the dial.

All models have a Swiss Quartz Movement with a day and date display on the 3 o'clock position. Water resistance varies from 100 to 200 meters depending on the models. Each watch contains a screw on case back along with a rotating bezel.

What are your thoughts on Luminox?

Personally, I am fascinated with the long-term luminescence of the watch. How it manages to stay visible for so long without charge is beyond me. Most watches in the collection are in black, this highlights the features displayed on the different coloured dials.

In closing, if you are in the market for a robust watch that will always be visible, reliable and suitable for multiple occasions - Luminox watches are for you!
