Celebrating Rotary's 125 Year Anniversary

Posted by Nicole on 7th Feb 2020

It’s 2020 and do you know what that means? That means it’s a milestone birthday for Rotary watches! To mark it’s 125th birthday, Rotary have reinterpreted some of its most treasured timepieces. (I’m assuming you’re now as excited as I am?)

Representing the power of lasting quality and style, each new addition from the limited-edition collection, takes inspiration from the fashionable forties, the flying fifties and a nod to Rotary’s military past.

The fancy new timepieces are limited to 300 pieces each. The new vintage-inspired models combining effortless style and timeless character, each with their own unique influences and stories possess a modern 21 jewel self-winding movement.

Addition 1: Inspired by the elements of watch design made prevalent in the 40's. A 40mm rose-gold PVD case is enclosed in bubble mineral glass - an element from the original design. To add a contemporary twist, they used prominent lugs and polished Arabic dial markers. Overall, the combination of a silver sun-ray brushed domed dial with genuine brown leather straps and Rotary buckle evokes the popular aviation style of the era.

Addition 2: Taking inspiration from a time of great significance and change… (drum-roll please) THE 50'S! A time where the younger generation began to break free in the wake of new technology. Classic elements from the original design like the bubble mineral glass and fine cross-hair detail remain paramount. The style is reborn through the stark black dial and ivory white hour and minute hands creating a contemporary air. The 50's inspired watch features a larger case size of 40mm.

Addition 3: Did you know, Rotary was one of the official watch suppliers to the British Army? This final addition to the Heritage collection reflects Rotary’s past with a durable and light weight titanium case and through high-grade luminous hour markers with sword and ox hands. To bring this Heritage-inspired piece into the present day, they incorporated a fully titanium bracelet with flat scratch-resistant sapphire glass and 100m water resistancy.
