Fenix 7 Vs Fenix 6:
Note: This article is being updated as we put the new Fenix 7 watches to test.
As Garmin has launched the new Fenix 7 series, a common question is what's the difference in Fenix 7 Vs Fenix 6. Here, we take a look at the key features that have been added to Fenix 7:
Touchscreen + Buttons:
The Buttons on Fenix 6 and Fenix 7 are handy to use in rugged environments as well as when you are wearing gloves. Fenix 7 also adds the touchscreen option so you can quickly select or scroll through multiple options, making it easier and quicker to use.
Sapphire Glass on Solar Models:
With Fenix 6, the solar charging models did not have sapphire glass. So you had to choose between a sapphire glass and a solar charging option. Fenix 7 now offers Sapphire glass on most (but not all) solar charging models, thanks to the power sapphire solar charging lens technology.
Longer Battery Life:
Fenix 7 gives a longer battery life than Fenix 6. Solar sensor cover more area on a Fenix 7. Also improved power manager helps enhance battery life.
Flashlight Option (Selected models only):
The 7X series has a flashlight option that can be activated simply by double tapping the light button on the watch. One-of-a-kind strobe mode so the light flashes red or white depending on backward/forward watch facing. Note that the flashlight is not available on 7 and 7S series.
Updated apps and features:
Fenix 7 has an updated software with additional features. Some of these are:
Enhanced heart rate sensor:
The heart rate monitoring is one of the most loved features on the Fenix series. The Fenix 7 has more photo diodes and LEDs for more accurate heart rate monitoring.
More Accurate GPS Location & Tracking:
The Fenix 7 GPS location is a lot more accurate especially in areas with hard-to-reach satellite signals (like high rise buildings). Fenix 7 uses multiple frequencies to communicate with the satellite to offer more accurate location data.
Button Guard:
The Fenix 7 start/stop button on top right of the watch has an improved protection (on an already rugged watch), to safeguard the buttons during outdoor activities or in case of an accidental drop.
Titanium in the watch case:
Some Fenix 6 models had a titanium watch case. Most of the Fenix 7 models now have titanium in the watch case, making it light and comfortable to wear.
Visual Differences:
Although Fenix 7 and Fenix 6 look very similar, there are subtle differences in the 6/6x and 7/7X watch bezel. The screws have now moved to the lugs from the watch case, giving it a more rugged look.
